Vern was one of those school friends we had that we hung around with from class to class. I don’t remember seeing him much out of school but we did hang around together with Norm Wilkins, Don Card, Tom Nolan and a few others. Vern wrote on his pic in my year book, NAVY 20 YEARS. I took that to mean he planned on doing a stint in the Navy after graduation. That was in 1963.
Recently Vern found his way to Classmates and now we know that he has survived through all those interesting years in the 60’s. The Disco era and right through to the 80’s, and 90’s.
Vern is his sons copilot in their own little Starship Gl1001 a sleek new mini Space Shuttle. He loves to travel the sky’s which I personally find crazy so perhaps he did not escape the sixties.
Vern says he has no fear of flying and travels aloft without a net or even a parachute. I believe he has mentioned Florida, which I know can bake your brains out since I have also lived here since the early sixties.

I always remembered him in a white shirt and black pants. Like most northerners also sporting a tee shirt under our dress shirt. I haven’t worn a tee shirt in 34 years and forgot why we did, could have been the weather, I guess.
Vern looks a little spiffy here so he must still have some of that northern blood.


And Vern as I remember him in school. See where he put that 20 Yr Navy on his pic from the yearbook? Hopefully I will hear from him again and he will fill in a few more details. Hey just remembered. Those ink pens that we all had. The clear blue ones we filled with ink. Thats what he used!
